The true story/inspiration/additional comments:

The first bike I ever rode was a 125 Yamaha. I was 13 and a " mascot" with the South Florida outlaws. rode all over with a black beret, imagine .. like an old wild bunch movie with this kid on a hot 125 cc with guys on HARLEYS..
From that summer of fun, I would go on to build 39 bikes. from Triumphs (7)and Harley (12) to Honda cb750 (5) and in between. Many I built rode for 6 mos then sold. In any case, when our 4th daughter was born 17 years after her last sister  I sold my awesome Miami Dolphin Blue MagnetoDriven (no battery) , back brake only, Super Chopped Triumph and gave up riding. It is funny what happens later in life. you begin to fear that you will wipe out leaving your daughter to fend for herself. Notice I did not say wife! 48 years of riding and several road whacks and I NEVER gave it a thought. But then age occurs and new life and you think..

9 years slipped by when I saw an add for v star. I mean I saw it and went to the dealer with my daughter to look at the 1100. it did not take too many "just get it" from the wife and daughter to make a decision. Like any bike addict, after studying the web as too customization and tricking out , I invested in the parts and then, and only then, did I purchase this 1100 off the floor--- it was the first new bike I ever invested in-- I had it stripped down the first week end. I have many talents including watch restoration and jewelry fabrication . I used copper silver steel & leather for trim work . I have a skull ring with a black widow I carved and cast, so I carved 30 spiders in wax and cast them. I welded them to heavy copper sheet and used this on the bike.

I now go to the VA every two months for injections damage in my knees; an attempt to put aside knee surgery. It became difficult to both mount or ride anymore. Thus I am offering my 40 year old Long Rider Great Coat Of Arms, my 20 Year Old Vest and Chaps. I guess this means it is for real. I do not take it as a negative. Though vintage, they will go another 50 years if you oil them up and clean them every few years.

IMG_1662.JPG (127865 bytes)

I HAVE HAD THESE OLD SCHOOLERS RESOLED TEN TIMES

IMG_1673.JPG (154660 bytes)

I HAD GOLD HARLEY WINGS THAT I CARVED IN WAX AND CAST ATTACHED
NOTE THE THREAD. WHICH I REMOVED I ALSO HAD PINS AND
A SOLID SILVER COVER THAT FIT THE LEFT BOOT
THE REASON? MY LAST TRIUMPH WAS A KICK START NO MATTER WITH
MAGNETO IN THE DISTRIBUTOR POINTS BOX. WHEN U KICKED STARED IT THE MAGNETO SUPPLIED THE SPARK WHEN YOU RODE IT THE MAGNETO SUPPLIED POWER FOR FRONT AND REAR LIGHT. THIS COPPER THAT I BUILT ONLY HAD A REAR DRUM BRAKE

SO I BUILT THIS ITEM SO I COULD ASSIST THE REAR BRAKE WHEN STOPPING
AT NIGHT IT WOULD MEAN TONS OF SPARKS.EVENTUALLY I USED IT JUST FOR THAT. THE BRASS BOTTOM/BASE, DEPENDING ON TIME USED IT HAD TO BE UNSOLDERED
AND A NEW BRASS FOOT PIECE WELDED BACK ON
QUICK RELEASE KEY RING ATTACHMENTS ALLOWED ME  TO SLIDE THE SILVER TOP, WHICH WAS CARVED OUT AND HAD A LARGE OVAL BLACK ONYX SET IN IT
HAD SOLDERED RINGS. THE QUICK RELEASE COULD BE SNAPPED ONTO THE BOOT IN SECONDS IT TO THE STEEL RINGS
THE BOTTOM WAS 1/4 INCH BRASS
SO I COULD SPARK THE STREET AT NIGHT

IMG_1672.JPG (171292 bytes)

LEATHER IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION
